Attention all GTAQ Members and Geographers: 

March Professional Development Opportunity: AGTA and GTAQ Mini Conference

This is an amazing opportunity to hear from leading Geography educators and curriculum designers from around the country. The combination of presenters and topics have never before been offered in a PD in Queensland and we would strongly encourage all members and associate members to attend along with anyone responsible for teaching within the Humanities disciplines.

Multiple sessions will be offered concurrently.  Please see the attached program for a full outline of the sessions and presenters.

Topics covered will include:

  • The place of Geography in the Australian Curriculum
  • How to think and teach geographically
  • Using inquiry methods to increase technical skills and increase intellectual engagement
  • Unpacking middle school Geography
  • Strategies and practical tips for incorporating field work within classes
  • Developing literacy skills through Geography
  • ICT in Geography
  • Resources for junior and middle school Geography
  • Deconstructing the Australian Curriculum Geography achievement standards
